The Franklin County and the Hy-ru- The first attraction on the South Cache high school lyceum course will be the Russian Cathedral Quartet, which will be heard here Wednesday evening, November 12, in a program of Russian music admirably interpreted. Four Russian singers all of whom are musicians of note in their native country, compose this organization. These singers were the favorites of the late Czar Nicholas, and before the great war they sang with the d choir of one of the Russian cathedrals. Whencame to this country and became a part of the ehoir of the celebrated St.Nichola3 Russian Cathedral in New York City, their sing-in- e caused showers of praise, and later, when the present organization was formed and they appeared in concert, the critics hailed them with enthusiasm. Our townsman Robert Baxter, and the late James Jensen, were important figures at that time. Prior to the year 1860, there was no mail carried through Cache ValSara Whitney was the first ley. carrier through Caehe Valley. He carried mail during 1860, being called upon by Brigham Young to do so. What little pay he received was from the tithing office. In 1861, Ben Holliday and Howard Egan, who had the contract from the government to carry mail aeross the continent and also from Salt Lake City, to Franklin, to Frank Gunnell and William H Maughan, to carry the mail from Brigham City to Franklin. Junior the four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kerr died Monday of cholera and fantum. mm f m Literary, Notes One of the most entertaining parties of the season was given by the Ladies Literary Society on Thursday evening Oct. 30th, at the High School gymnasuim. The Ladies entertained their husbands in connection with special guests. The Halloween idea was carried out in all the appointments of the party. Dancing and games were the amusements. During the evening Jack Wahlen rendered two beautiful solos accompanied on the piano by Mrs. R. S. Hanson. Refreshments were served to seventy five. The Society met Friday afternoon last with Mrs. J. B. Baxter. Mrs. Alban T. Clawson rendered two very pleasing piano solos and Mrs. Clifford War gave an excellent Hallowe'en story. During the. social hour refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. C.
