The result was that a ticket of real good and strong material was nominated, and was called the Citizens Ticket, which appears in another agreed n column. However, when the Republicans and Democrats met conjointlmeeting on y in a and the respecWednesday night, tive committees reported the result and purpose of the meeting, and to agree on the candidates, the proposition was turned down by the Republicans, whereupon the Democrats withdrew in a body to another room. Is it necessary for a town the size of Hyrum to be divided on political grounds in the management of home affairs? Are men well fitted for the control of public affairs going to be held in the background because they belong to the wrong political party? These and many other such questions should be carefully considered, by every intelligent voter in Hyrum. At the call of some representative citizens a mass meeting was called with but one purpose in view, that to consider the best interests of Hyrum. The meeting resulted in the naming of a city ticket who are capable to administer the obligatioins trusted to them in a satisfactory way free from the detremental influence of politics in every respect. Courier: If you permit of a little space I will attempt to tell a little story just as it was related to me while traveling through one of the smaller cities in western Idaho, some time ago. 1 was walking along one of the )usy streets one morning, and as the people were hurrying along, you could hear the screams of the newsboys selling the morning papers. The sun was casting its golden rays down over the beautiful valley, gilding the mountain tops along the western hills. The flowers were all in bloom and it made me feel like we had a beautiful world to live in, and that everybody was enjoying the blessings that nature had so generously provided. Presently I dropped into a little home that stood back from the fence and the street a short distance and rapped at the door; I was invited in. There sat a couple old and grey from labors long and weary toil. I took their order for some underwear, when the old lady remarked: I hope I never need them; I hope the Lord will take me home before they get here. G.S.O- - band came over to her and with his coarse, ruff, hands, made so by honest toil, stroked her silver locks and tried to quiet her. She raised her face, the looks of which I shall never forget. I followed her into another room where she showed me their little dresses and aprons hanging up, clean and tidy, waiting for them. In a corner stud the two little slippers, polished red for the baby girl, and the little hoes and rakes leaning against the wall which they had used for their little play garden. I want those little effects and playthings to stay just as 1 placed them, so they can see that grandma waited for them until she was laid away in the silent tomb, should they ever come back. That was more than I could stand. I bid her good-byand she took my hand in her two wasted and withered ones, and I hurried away. Leaving them I went to may room to give vent to my feelings. I could see that face before me for days and in the silent hours of night, I thought I could see those pleading eyes looking into mine.
