New Bishopric 0 As To Federal Farm Loans BELGIUM The following poem Was.written-ancomposed by Judge J. W, McKinney of Salt Lake City, on the eve of his departure for Hyrum to deliver the 4th of July oration, and rpad by him at the close of his able talk: d Couns. A. MIsraelsen and Wm. H. Maughan of the Stake Presidency, met with the people of the 3rd Ward last Sunday, June 15th, the Ward. and In consideration of the fact that asked to be Bp. Jas. J. Facerhas , ' occasions, on released on previous account of his many other duties and interests. A rumor has been afloat that a change was to take place, but no one knew just when or who the successors to the old bishipric would be, and consequently, no little surprise was created when the change took place last Sunday. j matter has been under consideration however; for some time The The selective draft drawing by the U. S. War department at Washington took place Friday and all persons registered on June 5th, between the ages of 21 and 30, were .drawn. Cache County is to furnish 52 more men for the army, so the'first 52 names drawn wjll be the first to come before the examin ing board to determine their fitness for soldiers, nd, until this number is made up from the county, the examining board will "V, continue drawing down the line. So far 300 names have been drawn from the different towns, in the county Following is the list of names drawn from Hyrum, Wellsville and Avon. So far no names from Paradise have been drawn: the Stake Presidency and High Council, and they thoroughly exfor0 available plored the ward material to take hold and cope with the interests and progress of the ward as it is now constituted. After giving the matter much thought and deliberation the presidency decided on the following For Bishop, Louis P. names: Maughan; 1st Couns., James G. Christensen; 2nd Couns., Leonard ' Larsen. Facer and Bishop James J. Counselors, R. W. Israelsen and N. J. Nielsen, were then honorably released, ' with a vote of thanks for their long and faithful service rendered to the people of the ward. Tne names of the new bishopric were then presented and unanimously sustained by the meeting. The latter are all young men, but have proven themselves' valiant workers in the church, both at home and abroad, and. by the hearty vote given them, the people c certainly showed .that they' were pleased with the choice made by the stake authorities. ' In justice to the retiring bishop ric, we would say that they were linen of excellent character, good sound judgment and always willing to aid those in need, either in sickness or in a material way, and the people of the ward as a whole owe much to them for the successful administering of its affairs during their regime. behalf of the new bishopric we would say, that w"e tender to them our congratulations, and wish them success in this high calling, and we earnestly hope that the people of the ward will rally around them and give them their united support and we doubt not but that the ward will prosper, and become one of the best wards in the Hyrum Stake. by Excursion is Called Off For many long years the Kaiser prepared Tp conquer the world with the gun, Henry J, Jones, Wellsville.
