Show Paradise Jaycees Organize The Paradise Funeral Service Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Wells ville tabernacle for Mrs. Sadie Stoddard, 85, widow of. David Stoddard, who passed away at the home of her son, Carl Stoddard at Lewiston. The remains laid in state at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones in Wellsville Tuesday evening and until time for the services on Wednesday. Bishop Cliff Olsen was in charge of the funeral. The flowers were profuse and beautiful The music was by the ward choir. Prayers were by Patriarch John C. Brenchley and James A. Leish-maSpeakers were Dr. W. O. Christensen, Guy H Maughan, Pres. Preston H. Brenchley and Bishop Cliff Olsen. A Tribute to Mother was read by a granddaughter, Nedra Stoddard Wood. A special musical number was a vocal duet When Theyre Gone Do Not Forget Them by Parley Hall and Nellie Leishman. The grave in the Wellsville cem etery was dedicated by Franklin H.' Wyatt.; n. Paul Hurt Jack Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Paul ently received word that their son Jack was injured in a bus accident near St. Louis, Mo. He is rec- reported to be recovering satisfactorily. He was hospitalized and is now on crutches. Thomas Bostock Discharged Thomas Bostock, the son of Mr.' and Mrs. William Bostock of has feceived his discharge from the navy after three years of service. He spent the last year in Guam. Hy-ru- FAST DAY NEXT SUNDAY The wards of Hyrum Stake will observe Fast Day next Sunday in- asmuch as general conference will be held on the first Sunday of April. The evening meetings are sched uled to be held under the direction of the MIA. Mrs. ' Honor Hyrum Selected Composer In a spirited contest which closed Wednesday evening at 11 p. m.' Donna Wyatt was elected Wellsville Centennial Queen with Leora Poppleton and Gelene Wyatt as attendants. Donna is the daughter of Mr. Charles Wyatt, Leora is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Poppleton, and Gelene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wyatt. The girls will reign over centennial festivities in Wellsville and will represent the town when attending celebrations elsewhere. , Courier Enjoys Mrs. Howard Jones received a note from Mrs. Zilla Stuart Cot-taof Sherman Oaks, Calif, saying Thank You for the South Cache Courier which her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Stuart, receive while they are spending their ffOth honeymoon in California. They have enjoyed it very much and have been able to keep in touch with home folks through its pages. m NEW WARD CLERK L. Cottam entertained at a beautifully appointed birthday luncheon in her home on Contour Drive, Sherman Oaks, Calif. on Wednesday, March 5 honoring her parents, Mr. Robert G.' Stuart who was 81 years of age on March 8 and Mrs. Stuart who was 80 on February 17. Mrs. O. E. Brown, sister of Mrs Cottam, was M. Red and white sweet peas and white tapers in crystal holders centered the table, and individual birthday cakes were at each place. The afternoon was spent visiting and singing old time songs. The guests were all former Wellsville residents and included Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Stuart, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bailey, Mr and Mrs. George Gunnell, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Christiansen, Mr and Mrs. O. E Brown, Mrs. May Brown Mrs. Sarah Brown Eagleston, Mrs. Polly Allan, Mrs. Barbara Howell Richards, Mrs. Dorothy Bailey Nagle, Mrs. Esther Darley, Mrs. Lucile Darley, Caranza and Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Junior Prom Planned Tonight The South Cache High Junior Promenade featuring the theme In the Moon Mist is to be held tonight at 9 p. m. Candidates for the prom queen were elected by the four classes and were Joan Christensen, Mar-ceCurtis, Jeri McBride, and Beverlee Zollinger. Large of Salt Lake City and his family recently moved into the home formerly occupied by the Kitchens. Mr. Large is atending the forestry school. US-A- C ' h The Hyrum First ward MIA payed honor to H. H, Petersen, composer of many well known LDS hymns and anthems Who was a resident of Hyrum. The was under the direction meeting of Miss Afton Peterson, music director, and Mrs. Norma Baxter, special interest class director, and took up the entire MIA meeting time on last Tuesday. Songs of Mr. Peterson from the Sunday School song book were sung by the choir under the direction of A. J. Petersen. A history of the composer was given by Mrs. Melinda Liljenquist. A vocal solo was sung by. Mrs. Emma Liljenquist, the only living member of the original Peterson choir. A quartet composed of Wm. La Von Larsen, Ray JensenBailey, and Merrill Baxter sang a song by H. H. Petersen. John A. Israelsen told humorous incidents of early dftys in Hyrum, and displayed"' some of the first Couriers printed. W. H. Petersen, only living son of H. H. was a guest of honor. r HURTS FINGER Edward Nielsen suffered a painful injury to his finger this week when he caught it in a of farm machinery he was piece fixing. Receives Radio , Rrlze Mrs Alton Miller was the surprised recipient of a parcel post box containing one dozen long stemmed American Beauty Roses. The roses were a prize from the KUTA Vera King program. Mrs. Miller had sent an entry letter to the program on their very commending them Interesting program. Mrs. Millers letter was read over the radio, and this one chance on a Bendixgives her washer. HONOR ELDRID LARSEN Eldrid S. Larsen was at a party given by the honored and teachers of the Hyrumofficers First ward MIA on Wednesday evening. He was recently released as president after several years service. New Counselor In Third Ward Ivan Miller was released from his position as Second Counselor to Bishop Earle Allen of the Hyrum Third ward last Sunday at ward conference.'
