Show f hiilw The Cozy Corner BYW.L. The Best Town By A DAM Site C. 5c per single copy VOLUME XXXIII Well Folks here we go again I It looks like thj people are preparing for the election already. It is too bad for Willke, as he thought he was going to get the Republican nomination for president, but he missed by a long shot. A little guy in New York by the name of Dewey stole the show right away from Mr. Willke. Well folks we are still after a sho maker and we hope that soon some one will read this column and come to town with a fine shoe shop. We layor Jorgensen Hyrum Utah, FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 941 JER 42 Declares City Cleanup Campaign ME AND MY SHADOV7 Relief Society 1 People Are Urged To Cl Their Properly During This To Sponsor Dp Paper Driye Annual Clean Hope. I think we can be safe in telling the people that spring is here now as there are a lot of people that have their gardens already planted and their lawns racked and yards cleaned. And by the way, Mayor John Jorgensen has declared a two weeks cleanup and paintup campaign which begins on Saturday April 8, and continues until April 22 Now lets all get behind our city and really have a cleanup. Cliff Stauffer tells ye editor that there is going to be a waste paper drive beginning now. This drive is being sponsored by the Three Ward Relief Societies, and all the money that is taken in from the drive goes into the Societies Treasuries. Lets get behind this worthy cause and help the Relief Society make a little extra money. -- - . Sunday is Easter and thats the day when the ladies all come to town dressed like Asteds Horse to join the Easter Parade and boy do they think they are dolled up. Well we will agree with them that they do look very lovely in spring outfits. their new Well folks it wont be long now before we will be having soft ball games under the lights again as the Senior Scouts of the three wards are each going to have teams. We sure hope that one of the Hyrum teams wins the Stake tournament before the season ends next fall. There will be teams ifrom almost every town in the Stake represented. So lets get behind our teams and we know that we will see some very good games this summer. le -- Have you been in the Hyrum Drug lately or in the last few lays and seen how Cliff has changed the store and put in a new and up to the minute prescription booth. It sure makes a difference in the appearance of the drug store and the people can also see what Cliff js given them for medicine. We still have a lot of people coming to Hyrum hunting for houses to rent and I think it would be nice to have a place where the people could list their houses that they want to rent so that these people that come here wouldnt have to waste a lot of good gasoline running around trying to find a house. Last Monday morning they took a lot of the Hyrum boys down to Fort Douglas to be examined for the army. We understand that all that went down from here passed the examination and will soon be called into some branch of the service. ,v "v The Relief Societies of the Hyrum Three Wards are sponsoring the waste paper drive for this city. The shortage of paper makes it very necessary that these drives be put on so that the war boards may be able to 'finish all their war materials now started. Place all your waste paper in big boxes packed solid or in bundles and then get in touch with your ward Relief Society presidency and they will see that it is picked up 'immediately. All money taken in from this drive will be turned in to the Relief Societies treasuries, of the three wards to tad to their funds. You can help the war effort as well as yourselves by getting toall the old gether paper you find. Low Down From Hickory Grove You know, this old Sooner, Mr. Ed. Moore,, is no ordinary hombre. Once the Govt, takes over our service stations and starts running them like the SEC and the CPA and other outfits that boss us around, it is going to be too late to do any good by getting mad.
