Israelsen has resigned his position at the Utah State Agricultural College to accept a position with the Board of Investigation and Research in Washington D. C. During the current year of school Dr. Israelsen has been teaching in the department of agriculture economics. He came to Logan from the University of Wisconsin, where he did his work for the doctorate. The Board of Investigation and Research was set up by the president to study problems in railway and highway transportation. Professor Israelsen has been assigned to work on the problem of government subsidies to the railroads. He will take up his new duties immediately. Mrs. Israelsen and their children will remain in Logan until the close of school. Professor Israelsen was born and raised in Hyrum. He is the son Of Mrs. A. M. Mayor Jorgensen stated that he would like to have every member of the civilian defense of Hyrum represented at this meeting, as the purpose of the meeting is to explain in detail the duties of all those registered in Civilian Defense. Scout master, Hammond, presented Mr. Israelsen with a Veterans badge for 20 years of continuous service in scout work. Alonzo Savage, local district court of honor chairman and troup committe chairman of Hyrum 3rd ward, has an enviable record of service to scouting and to his comhe munity. For his great service was recently awarded the highest civilian award in scouting, the Silver Beaver. He was a scout master for 17 years and has held his present positions since 1931. He has also served on the camping committees of the local district and of the Cache Valley council. He fulfilled a mission to the southern states and has since served as president of the YM-MIand as assistant superintendent of Sunday school. He has taught in practically all the organizations of the church and has also served as an officer of the priesthood. He has been postmaster of this city and during Worl War I, he solicited for the Red Cross and Liberty bonds. Mr. Savage was also a coal administrator in Cache county. Newman, Special Agent in Charge of the Salt Lake City Division, that the FBI will continue its regular series of FBI Quarterly Police Conferences with a meeting of police officials at Brigham City on February 20, 1942.
