It is understood that liberal appropriations have been made by most of these counties for exhibits in the horticultural building, Last year the displays were among the most beautiful and varied ever seen at any state fair, according to the judges. San Juan county, listed third class, will be a strong contender for ' the award in that division. If It wins it will come in permanent possession of the silver cup. Hyrum State Bank AMUSEMENT FEATURES FOR THE UTAH STATE FAIR ARRANGED That the card of amusements for the 1922 Utah state fair, October 2 to 7, will be as varied, spectacular and novel as the offering of any former year, was the statement of W. D. Sut- -' ton, manager of the asoolation, fol- lowing a recent meeting of the board of directors. Bony polo, in which men from Fort Douglas will participate, is assured. The teams will give exhibition match- V es in the enclosure of the race track three days of the week, the activity being too strenuous to permit of daily f performance. On the alternating days there will be competitive drills be- tween squads from the Fort and the Utah national guard. Silver loving cups will be awarded each member of the winning polo team. An auto teeter, novel game of skill, will be another innovation in the way of amusements. It is open to all motor contestants, the idea being to drive on to a nicely balanced teeter 4 about four feet from the ground and strike a balance for a perceptible per. iod of time. A prize will be given to every driver who succeeds. Pyrotechnic displays for each night of the fair have been secured. All the latest freaks and thrillers of fireworks display will be exhibited to the fair patrons. Negotiations are under way for a large carnival. A rigid rule of the exposition this year will be every exhibit in place by 9 a. m. of the opening day, Mr. Sutton said. Monday has already been set apart as childrens and school day, the cooperation of county and city school officials having been secured. Applications for exhibition space are said to be coming in at a satisfactory rate. One application of especial interest was for a permit to make an agricultural exhibit representative of a section in Alberta, Canada.
