The fust town in the valley to start the viner was Hyrum. Peas were accepted Tuesday, June 30. 13 loads were hauled in Tuesday, 30 loads Wednesday and 58 loads Thursday. This shows how rapidly the crop is coming on. Viners in all parts of the valley are now in operation. Mr. Checketts also stated that there will le a short run this year due to the lapid development of the product, and also because of the light crop. Theie is a pest prevalent throughout tne entire pea area, known as the A small Pea pliesgieen bug that multiplies very rapidly, it attaches itself to the blossoms of the plant and pi events them from turning into pods. I'h ej also gather on the pods and prevent them from filling out. Mr. Cjiecketls stated that much work ha been done to prevent the increase of the pest and at present it is on .the decline. The patches most affected are those sown late. The early peas were blossomed out and the pods foiaj2d before the Aplies became so prevalent. There are 1000 acres of peas con for m Cache Valley, 174 acres of them being in Hyrum. l T-- - e e - IC-- d p-a- Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Larsen spent Thursday in Ogden. hand-spring- - VALLEY CACHE Hyrum City employees, appointees, and two elect,. d officers of the city, clubbed together, and decided they would invite each other to an evening trip to the caryon, and a big fet'd, alike the co.
