A Nixie letter is a piece of mail received at tne pestoffice which is not called for and does not have the name and address of the send-- , er, so it can be returned to sender. Such mail is sent to the dead letter office where it is opened, read, and if signed is returned to sender, postage due 3c. The patrons of the Hyrum office have mailed during the past ten days, 2242 pieces of first class mail, of this number there were 546 pieces which did not bear the return address of sender and many of them will no doubt find their way to the dead letter office. Do you knbw there are more clerks required t handle dead mail, than there are postmasters ia Utah. It costs over two million dollars annually. If you fail to put your return address on your letter yon add to the amount ef dead. mail. John A. Isralsen, Postmaster.
