The Utah Agricultural College has just formulated a set of directions for the western farmer to aid him in controlling the alfalfa weevil. These directions are as follows: When the first, crop of alfalfa shows signs of rerious injury, it should be cut and removed from the field as rapidly as possible. Then the field should be- - gone over with a springtooth harrow or alfalfa cultivator. This treatment should be followed with a heavy brush or wire dragging. If the field is heavily invested with worms, ic may pay to cross-dra- g it. This treatment if properly carried out, should leave the field with a fine dust mulch over the surface and the alfalfa stems bare, all the leaves being torn from them. t Independence Commemorating day,. we have printed in this issue of the Courier a special illustrated feature telling the origin of Americas patriotic songs and giving a picture of a copy of Yankee Doodle that was printed during the We are days of the Revolution. sure you will find the article un- usually interesting. , Several benefits crue from this method. They gave a dance at the Elite Hall after their regular performance on Thursday night for which they furnished the music.
