TUESDAY CACHE COUNTY PRIMARY CANDIDATES LISTED More than 6600 students in the Cache county school district will The report to classrooms on the initial ection oflist of candidates for Cache county offices in the primary September appears below: of day school, Tuesday, September 6, it was announced today by J. W. Kirkbride, superintendent of the county schools. Regular school activity for both elementary and secondary divirnns commences Tuesday, and them will be no registration dates preceding Tuesday inasmuch as all students made their selections of classes during the spring registration last May. Since that procedure was completed taahcers committees have made the class schedules during the summer months. Activity fees for students of the North Cache and South Cache high schools this fall will total (3-5Superintendent Kirkbride stated, with no The laboratory fee being charged. school district is assuming all labors tory costs. Append mately 810 students are enrolled at North Cache, while South Cache lists 785. The total number of high school teachers is 47. For the 173 teachers in the district there will be no opening institute, inasmuch as there have been committee meetings held regularfy throughout the summer. According to Superintendent Kirkbride, the instructors will probably he ealled together for a general session some two weeks after the beginning of SOFTBALL SCHEDULE TO WIND-U- P MENS SOON BARNES SERVICES TU BE HELD SUNDAY SOFTBALL STANDING el- PROGRAM PLANNED MANY EXPECTED FOR LABOR DAY TO CAST BALLOTS . The taxpayers of Smithfield are called to the polls again Saturday, September 3rd to decide a very important issue that is now facing the city. That issue is whether or not the majority favor a project that has the unanimous approval and support of the mayur and city council. Thia project is the installation of a new 12 inch water line, from the reservoir to connect up with the new cast iron pipe at Peteraone property. Thia is not a WPA project where the labor only is supplied by a pro-e- ct of the Public Works Administration wherein both material and labor are let out for competitive bids and the total cost of the project is paid for conjointly by the city and the government, the eity paying 55 per cent and the government 45 per cent The government portion in this particular project wiU he approximately $14,000 which will be an outright grant or gift to the city. It is proposed that the citys portion amounting to approximately $17,000 is to be raised through the sale of waiter worka bonds which will sell at par end draw only 8 per cent interest. If the project is undertaken at this time it will undoubtedly be the greatest saving in the cost of the project and low interest rate that can possibly ever be realised. Because of the deteriorated condition of the pipe we are risking interruption in water service at any time and if new pipe is not laid now will undoubtedly be an sbaolnto necessity in the very near future, when the city will be called to pay the entire cost while pur taxes are assisting for similar projects in The last part on the program will other communities. be ' a hot softball game between The labor for the project will be Westinghouse, the leader of the lea- given to local men as much as posgue and their nearest rival, Winns sible regardless of who the contract or may be.
