We have thought the same Johnson looks a great deal like Grover Cleveland. Aint it a pity that such a man should be a Republican? remarked Mr. Kellogg in court the other day." Hon. S. O. Nielson, has all the men he can hire, getting out ties. It will take some food work to have 30,000 ties ready by April ist, when it is considered that the men are obliged to work in snow up to their waists. There has been a greater number of deaths, recorded in Fairview, this winter than ever before for the same lenght of time in the history of the settlement. The major part were children, taken off by that fell destroyer of budding humanity, Scarletina. The Fairview flour mill has been running without interruption all winter it has a capacity of fifty bar-rels a day. W, pay c?.r was down on Monday, and now the boys are happy. The subscription for an Opera House in Ephraim, had reached $1 100 yesterday noon. Our popular physician, Dr. Olsten has been in Salt Lake the past three days. His patients miss his skillful attention very much. Parties from Salt Lake have bought Fred Peterson's two lots, four blocks east of Main an J intend to erect three dwelling houses upon them this spring. Ephraim has the best tinner in the Connty. Mr. F. Y. Jensen is well known in the south end of the county, and his work is sought for ou'side of Ephraim. For any kind of work in his line he will give satis-faction. Don't forget this. The building formerly occupied by M. Rasmussen, Ephraim, as a butcher shop, was yesterday removed to the lot of Mrs. A. c. Hanson, where it will be used as a business house. Mr. John Anderson, Mrs. IPs brother was the purchaser. They will finish the new Presby-terian Academy, and are making plans of four dwellings, to be erect-ed by A. A. Cahoon, at a cost of ffioo.oo each. Geo. Wilson has given them the contract to put up his new dwelling to cost $500. 00. D. wilcox's Pool and Billiard Hall t Fairview r a very popular resort. There is hardly an hour of the day, that some of our young men can not befound there measuring cues, for the supremacy in a game. A number of them have become quite skillful in handling the cue. A couple of m!n from Providence wete up before Commissioner Fletcher on Tuesday charged with beating an animal to death. The animal failed to do what they though it ought to and in consequence they oeat ittodea'h. One ofthe parties pleaded guilty and was fined $$ and costs and sentenced t j sixty days in the Penitentiary. The other is to be tried (or the brutality Logan Journal. Mr. W. Grayham, a gentleman all the way from Louisville Ky. has opened a new barber shop in Mt. Pleasant, one door west of the Was-atch store, on Main street. The shop is a model of neatness, and taste, and is a fit work place, for such an artist in the tonsorial line.as Mr. Grayham has demonstrated him self to be. The new shop, will, no doubt, be well patronized, as it de serves to be. The painting and de-coration of the shop was done by Mr. Geo. Wilson and is done in his best style. County Locals. The .Vincents at Ephraim Monday night. Jirtin Rcinheimer, of Mt. Pleas-ant was in the Briny Metropolis Wednesday. Miss. Carrie Teterion was $0 Thursday that she could not teach her classes. The Vincent Cemedy Com-pany will be in Ephraim Mon-day Next It. Q. Iltnton of the Central House has olJ his property here and intend to more to Salt Lake .City. Messrs. Clinker and O'Dell repre-senting the Co-o- p Wagon and Ma-.chiu- e Co., of Salt Lake, were in the .city on Wednesday. A party from Proro says that Bp. J. Jett ison, of Fountain Green, was discharged by the coart yesterday, no ease against aim. C W. Faraon el oar lire-- young commission fim, Clossin & Parsons want to Spring city this morning to .buy up produce or the firm. Jnlia Dorius, ona of Ephraim's enterprising and intelligent young ladies left for Salt Lake this morn-ing, where she will study the art of ,dresa making. The merchant who believes money apent in advertising is thrown away, shonld take in sis sign, and is also too slow for the ag j. He was born too late in Ufa. The best Theatrical Com-pany, so gay the press, is the Vincents. They will play in Ephraim, Monday night. The Young Mens Co-o- p Store has a contract to furnished the R. G. W. 10,000 tie9 by April 1st and there is no excuse, for a single man to ba unemployed in Spring City. It doesn't speak well for the enter-prise of Utah dairymen, to have it said that the demand for butter can only be supplied by importing it from the Fast and West; but such is (ha fact. Ex. Go to the Opera House, Ephraim, Monday night and jsee the famous Vincents. After her recei t illness, Mi: Eva Vincent will play in Eph-raim, Monday. The Young M;ns Co-o- p Store at Spring City, although less than a year and a half old, is fast forging to the front, and will soon be the leading establishment in the City. This is, in a great measure, due to J.A.Justensen's excellent ability as a salesman. Ephraim has the greatest number of cultured musicians in the county .as is eridenced by the number of tickets the R. G. W. sold to the Tabernacle. Opening Friday night at alt Lake. There were seven sold At Kphraim, six at Manti and none at ylft. Pleasant George Snow the manager of the consolidated Implement Co., of Salt Lake, accompanied by Mr. dinger, was in the city yesterday for the purpose of securing a live rep-resentative of thn Arm is Ephraim. II sncceaded in making arrange-want- s with John Dorius, Jr., to act for them this year Mr. Snow was a guest at the Ephraim House. Clossin & Parson are paying the highest market price in cash for all irinds of produce delivered to them ajt the depot. Don't take trade for your produce when you can get the pest prices for It in cash by simply fcauling ij to the depot. They ar. Postmaster Larsen says he will deiirer mail after hours to only those who hare "call boxes." The rent on these is only 10 cents for three months. The accomodation is often worth double or three times the value of box rent. Everybody who expects to get mail two or three times a wceV. should have one. Mr. John Dorius Jr. has been ap-pointed the agent at Ephraim, for the Consolidated Implement Co. of Salt Lake city. The Consolidated Impt co. considered Mr. Dorius the best man for the place and offered him very liberal inducements to represent them, which he accepted. John's fame as a shrewd business man is ex-tending and he is deserving of the recognition, he is receiving from all quarters. The attention of the Ephraim city Marshal i9 cal'ed to the gang of young hoodlums who hang around the depot and make the life of the agent a burden to him, by reason of their meddling with things, and in some cases pilfering. If the Marshal will arrest a few of them, it might be the means of saving them from seiving a term in the pen, as the agents patience is about exhaust ed, and he declares the next one he catches breaking into fruit, candy and other packacges, he will have them indicted by the grand jury. So we hope the Marshal will rush to the rescue, and save these young scions from so dire a fate. Mostmcn are satisfied to know one trade perfectly. It is not so, with Frederick christenson, of Fair-vie- The harness he turns out of his shop, is known for its excellent work manship, great strength and dura-bility. He is the agent of San Pete county for the crown Sewing Ma-chine and crown Organ and he car-ries a fine stock of wall paper and ean put it on the wall, with the skill of an adept. The orders for his har-ness have poured in so thick and fast latcly.that he was obliged to increase his force, by two firstclass harness makers. It is men of Frederick christenson's stamp, who change towns into cities in a short time. An old resident of Fairview for-got himself last week and drove about the streets at a furious pace, endangering the lives of pedestrians until ha was brought up short in his mad carter, by the Marshal who him and brought htm before justice of thejpaaca much to the o.r's. indignation. Tha Justfce reprimanded him gave him to understand the law, was'no respecter of persons'and fined him S 00 and costs which the o. r. paid and left the justice office in high dudgeon remarking in emphatic terms, that things had come to a pretty pass, when an old settler could not drive his own team as fast as he liked without some citified ordinance interfering with his amusements. A REMEDY. A correspondence liotn Glenwood writes this to the Richfield Advocate. Realizing the great prevalence of sick-ness in this country at present, especially seailettna accompanied us ially by a severe pain, in the right side of the head and face, causing aim st unendurable distress to the patient. and having wit-nessed in this town, several cases ol al-most instantanious relief bv die follow-ing simple treatment, I deem it a duty to inform oursiitTriig neighbors through the columns of the Advocate. Fiist let the patient retire to bed, take hot Aatirons wrapped in warm wet cloths (saturated with a little turpentine if con-venient) place to the feet so as to steam them Give inwardly some warm herb tea. And like the shrewd business man that he is he announc-ed his advent in our midst in the Register, and he has continued to advertise his businessdiberai!y,every week, what has been the result? Work has poured in upon him, so fast that he has been compelled to labor night and day, to keep up with it. it may seem incredible, that a stranger, could do over $600.00 worth of dental work in less than three weeks after his arrival, but such is the fact, and demonstrates what can be lccomplishcd by advertising in the Register.
