Show OUT EAST NOTES by leah bartell the farewell party for stephen P meyer tuesday night was a wonderful success the small attendance that braved the last min ute storm was seated in a semicircle with tile the branch presidency mr meyer and master of ceremonies monies L J bartell at the head on a small table in front of them their I 1 was a pretty lace cover and a most attractive center a scene of a holland home made by mr air and mrs enos nielson after the opening song prayer was offered by enos nielson followed by a short timely talk by travest johnson jean and gordon bartell sang 1 I am my aly own grandpa steph stephen en myer gave an interesting talk A duet sweet genevieve was rendered by clerma lea johnson and wanda nielson after which oral johnson gave a reading harvest arvest time and a few very nice lines of poetry she had composed about mr meyer then a duet was sun sung by irene meyer and her father 1 T I know my heavenly fl fe ather knows maxine bohnson gave a reading the little blind boy from Il holland olland closing song was we thank thee oh god for a prophet dancing and refreshments of chocolates chocolate 7 nut sundaes sundnes sun daes and cookies concluded the evening the pro program ram was especially well 1 rendered and except for two or three touching moments all was fun and laughter due to the up and coming timely jokes of leonard and humorous additions by the missionary himself he will leave for his native home in the netherlands the last of march he anticipates his two year mission mission with joy and he will be a missionary among missionaries M mr and mrs clement johnson jackie harvey and irene meyer were out from monticello for the party we were indeed sorry that many more and especially people from blanding and monticello could not have enjoyed with us the splendid occasion the REA held its annual election of officers on march I 1 in the empire theatre of dove creek after a free lunch at noon stockholders cast their votes and there were also proxy votes those elected seem to be live wires and alert to the responsibility of extending electricity to the users south and west of dove creek mayor D B hunter had received a phone call that morning saying that the wire that is holding up the project will be ready by may 1 all other material is now ready to go we can expect everything completed in four months from the time the wire is delivered deli vired they say lights are again burning in the homes of mr and mrs L V shutt and mr and mrs ez crapo as they have returned home from a four weeks tour through parts of old mexico through grand and gion canyons into louisiana texas and to hoover dam robert shutt was also on this trip of fun and pleasure its nice to have gordon clair and jean back home again but they say its too quiet and are looking forward to spring and harder work lloyd misner and jackie harvey were out to visit jackies parents the Ilar harveys veys sunday p m mr and mrs forrest johnson were so happy to see the roads opened after being snowed in so long that they invited all of their horsehead neighbors in to a lively party of in their spacious living room A gay time etwas at midia midnight lit d licious delicious refreshments were served and the crowd dispersed about a m hank and ruby I 1 leer aleer and family were recent visitors at the home of rubys rabys parents the Mour ers jack brown purchased the elmer ill er place on horsehead and young steve meyer has bought hanks place mr and mrs julius harvey moved last week into the fay gage home which they now own we regret losing these good neighbors from this community also the heers who are making their home jn in oklahoma |
