Dear Editor: As a resident on the recently controversial First North, I would like to express my support for the City of Monticello. Obviously, the improvements are nice for the property owners on First North, but the overall affect is beneficial for the city as a whole. At the time the first houses were placed in the area of First North, the city obviously did not force the improvements that are now being made. If we want to make Monticello a beautiful place to live and let it be attractive to others, shouldn't we move forward in the right direction and change those mistakes made in the past for the better of Monticello? The homeowners are paying part of the cost of the curb and gutter and appreciate the safety and beauty it has brought to the neighborhood. Thanks to the city for completing this and other improvement projects throughout the city. AGENCY INSURANCE REAL ESTATE CLOSINGS TITLE INSURANCE SERVING SAN JUAN & GRAND COUNTIES Daniel G. That is such a nice feeling to see help arriving, compared to the helplessness one feels in fighting a rapidly growing fire with buckets and shovels. The friendly, joking attitude of the rescuers helps heal the embarrasment, anger and frustration. Thanks to you all, no property was lost. We will pay our property taxes in a few days with an increased appreciation for the manpower and equipment of the fire department. Thanks again for coming to our rescue.
