Our association with Alvin goes back over three years to the day we purchased the paper. During that time, Alvin has supplied us with many excellent photos, a number of which we classify as award winners. We are pleased that he is getting what we feel is recognition. He has many loyal fans among our well-deserv- ed readers. Like all publishers who compete in the Better Newspaper Contest, we hoped for some blue ribbons. However, considering that we advanced from a Group I newspaper to a Group H newspaper just last year, we really have no cause for complaint. We doubled our awards this year. Last year, we won one.
