Hurst, was recently entered in the minutes of the San Juan County Commission. Upon request, the letter is herewith published. Dear Mr. Chairman: You are aware that I recently spent a few days in our San Juan County Hospital as a patient. I would like to make a few remarks regarding the operation of this institution. It has been my lot in life to spend much time in various across the land. hospitals These have been private hospitals, church hospitals, Navy hospitals, and after leaving the service, several veterans hospitals in different cities. Their services have been fine and appreciated. I merely mention this past hospital experience to convince you that I am qualified to say what is to follow. I wish to say simply that I received better care and more efficient service in our own county hospital than I did anywhere else. We are - very fortunate to have such a fine facility in our midst. Our surgeons and practicing physicians are qualified and dedicated men. Our technicians, our nurses - in fact, the entire personnell - are doing a good work. I would also like to express appreciation to the organization of Pink Ladies for their courteous, tireless contribution of service. And finally an expression to Mr. Ron Nielson for the high type, efficient management he is giving us. I congratulate the entire hospital and medical board on a job well done in securing such fine personnel for this great county institution. I move, Mr. Chairman, that this letter of appreciation be made a part of the formal minutes of this commission; that we, as a commission, vote an expression of appreciation to these people, and that this expression be published honoring all who have anything to do with the carrying on of our great hospitalization program in the county. Wm. Riley Hurst Rent it with a Classified Ad to Fort Myers deep in Florida; from Jacksonville to Pensacola, to Talahassee and at the close of the year I had got nowhere with the book, so we flew home on the 3rd of January, and for a while I was kept busy trying to get outside of a peck of pills to keep my old car hitting on at least one cylinder. But I was determined to finish that fourth book regardless, and when I wrote the last of the last chapter on the 24th of March, I decided to indulge my Recordoholics with one more sip. Writing books is more profitable than writing letters, but not always more satisfying, and really satisfaction is better than cash; you write to your friends free and offhand and you feel good about it. My friends are the San Juaners and whoever has their interest at heart. Thats another reason I wanted to write again to the Record, once in a while. The San Juan Record is today the best paper ever published in the county. In the last 45 years it has had lady editors and gentlemen editors, but now it has a man and his wife. A man and a woman in full accord one with the other, is the most invincible combination to be found anywhere. And this combination is the Joneses, the pacesetters with whom the whole procession is trying to keep abreast. Keeping up with news of the Record is keeping up with the Joneses. I do appreciate The Record, the looks of it, the life of it, the way it is aware of and interested in what is going on, To be on the right side of most questions Is quite a gift, and The Record, though not infallible, takes a wise stand generally and is to be commended as a shaper of public opinion for the stand it takes. It seems to me that the Joneses are not there simply for what they can make out of it, but for the good they can do in a big way. I am hoping they will stay witfri it longer than most of their predecessors have stayed. Television Schedule Georgia From Our Files . .
