Accident On 8th Fatal Ian Black, 17 , of Seattle, Washington was killed when ice fell upon the hiking group he was with near the head of the south fork of Arch Canyon on Wednesday, May 8th. Nine students and their instructor, Kenneth Hauser, Jr., from the Colorado Rocky Mountain School of Carbon-dal- e, Colorado, were on a survival hike in the area and had stopped to rest about 3 p.m. when a rumble was heard from above.
