Show IxJQCTg Mrs. Halliday installed PTA president LBXqgSCD The final PTA meeting of the Park Terrace Element ary School was held on May 15. Children brought their hobbies and put them on display for the public to view, Chesley Allred, Ruby Bronson and Shanna Durfey judged the hobbies, awarding red, blue and white ribbons. A large number of hobbies were exhibited and Keen interest was displayed by parents and students alike. Hobbies were on display from 6:30 p. m. to 7:30 p. m. At 7:30 a formal meeting was held. Blaine Mihesell, Kelly Guymon, Stanley Perkins and Gregory Holt posted the colors. Mrs. Dorothy Nielson offered the opening prayer. A welcomi was given by Mrs. Joey Halliday, PTA vice president and the minutes were read by Mrs. Geraldene Osborn, secretary. Under the direction of Mrs. Relva Bowring, the third and fourth grade students sang two musical numbers. Choloe Ann Shumway was installed as vice president for 1968 school year and Mrs. Halliday will succeed Mrs. Jolene Holt as president. Reading certificates and pins were presented to the students that earned them. In order to earn a certificate first graders had to read at least 15 books, to receive a certificate and pin - 40 books. Second graders had to read 25 or 50; third graders 20 and 30 and fourth and fifth grade students were required jolene Holt, Joey Halliday and Geraldene Osborn, PTA officers for the past year, were each presented witn a box of candy by the school In appreciation for their efforts tills past year. THE LITTLE THEATRE Monticello, t'tali how Time 7T) I1 MAY 18 Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Hansen attended the Jaycee State Convention held at Vernal last week. Mr. Hansen is a former member of the State officers. They enjoyed meeting former friends from Richfield. Mrs. Cooper Jones, assisted by her daughter Joylyn, gave a surprise party for daughter Kcrrilee on her 11 birthday. The girls met at the church house and went as a group to the Jones home. Soft ball and other games were enjoyed. They roasted weenies around the open campfire. Friends who helped Kerrilee celebrate were: Jeralyn Smith, Beverly Black, Rhonda Rogers, Susan Mussleman, Dayna Lewis, Marilee Hungentobler, Clair Rowley, Ann Redd and Karen Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Black have moved back home after spending the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Their son Duane will come when school is out in Mesa. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers met Friday at Mrs. John Lewis'home. Mrs. Elbert Randles gave the lesson. The club voted to support the County Camp in the re -- publishing of the "Saga of San Juan". The next meeting will be a summer party June 14, at the Blanding Library. 20222 r- - I: - MAY 23 - 24 in GENERAL Free Show To A(1 driving with an impressive 100,000 miles of safe driving while in the employment of Whitfield Transportation. In a letter from Whitfield he was commended for "his driving skill and abilities showing concern for the welfare of person, property, and the company on the streets and highways". As a token of their appreciation he will receive a gold watch at the companies next annual safety meeting. Gene began his employment with Whitfield in May of 1958. He had a "Sleeper" run to El Paso, Texas until 1960 when he was transferred to Monticello. While residing here, he drove a daily run to Farmington, N. M. A year ago he was transfered back to Salt Lake City where he now drives from there to Farmington, making 10 trips a month, and making "meal stops" with his family. Prior to his employment with Whitfield he held various driving positions, making a total of 22 years as a "professional driver. " During this time he has had no "chargeable" accidents. Science book lost The "Book of Popular Science", Vol. II is missing from i:he Monticello Library, according to Mrs. Maxine Webb, Librarian. She asks that whoever accidentally picked it up, return it to the book depository at the Library immediately. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hyer of Lewiston, Idaho, are visiting their daughter and family, the Sheridan Hansens. Also visiting the Hansen's are Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Burke.
