Abe Lehi is in his latter sixties, and has quite a posterity by former marHe married Alice May, riagesthree or four years ago, and she is in her latter teens or early twenties-Thremarkable thing about it is that she is deaf and dumb. We had known Alice from her early childhood, and were much interested in her marriage, and pleased to see how successful it seemed to be. She and Abe could understand each other perfectly, and are very happy so far as we can tell. Another remarkable thing about Alice, is that she communicates by sign language with all of her people, and they laugh and act in harmony while they are carrying on a heated conversation with their flying hands, and not trying to move their lip' It is necessary to see how smoothly this works in order to believe that these people have de vised such an efficient system all by themselves. Jeepsters To reach by jeep is becoming more of a challenge every day- We could hardly wait to hear how far and with what success this latest company went- Three jeeps left on the 17th, and were followed by three more jeeps next day. They all returned on the 20th, having got "so near and yet so far from the river. All six jeeps got to the top of the Cottonwood Dugway, but Vint Jones made it only to the. top of The Shoot the Chutes with his four-whedrive pickup. At the head of Cottonwood they put in several hours of hard work and two blockbusters to get some of the big rocks out of the way, and then three of the jeeps; Lynn Lyman, Gene Blickenstaff and Lyle Johnson drove down the dugway and half a mile beyond when they came to the top of a steep sandhill, which they could easily have gone down, but - two-year-o- k - - - Town-Orthopedi- c - Saun and Linda Bohn,; Joe Fin and Marylinn Lyman; Francis Nielson; Rose Mar Burtenshaw. In reporting the jeep trip Hazel Lyman says: "We figured the distance to be about 120 miles, and that it could be covered in ten hours if no stops were made- - I would suggest that anyone planning the trip, take five gallons of water for each jeep, and a water bag for every two people. The water sit- uation could be serious in that country- - It is still very hot down there, but the nights are cool- We figure the trip could be made as late as November, in jeeps for the latter part of the trip. We trailed our jeeps behind cars most of the way, and that is not very safe practice. With all the roads and trucks our there, anyone not knowing the country could easily get - lost- - Montana Missionary Our latest missionary, .Ronnie Guymon, writes from Butte, Montana, rhat he is having some challenging experiences. In the first place, his clothes were left somewhere in Idaho, and it was three days before he could make himself presentable- And he had no senior companion to break him in, but he and a boy from Moab had to find or make their own way- Be sides all that, the lessons that had been given in several months, they were now asked to give in two weeks- But having known Ronny from the time he was weaned, we - - - are sure he will make it. Its a Boy Mr. and Mrs- - La Mar Wright are rejoicing over their firstborn, a boy, who arrived at 2:30 in a San Juan hospital on the 20th. Trips and Weddings Frank and Hattie Barton are home after spending a month away, most of the time in Middleton, California, about 90 miles from San Francisco, at the home of their daughter, Donha Bell. They attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Judith Ann- They visited also with Mrs. Bartons sister, Lewis, who has been confined for some time to her bed, but is now improving- Soon after getting home the Bartons attended the wedding of another granddaughter, Catherine Barton, daughter of Wesley Barton of Moab.
