Meeting 7 OO N YOUR Utah archers began the 1955 statewide special permit deer hunt Saturday, Sept. 3, according to the State Department of Fish and Game. The twenty-twday bow shoot will continue through o September 25. The Department said the entire state would be open to bow hunting during this period except the following closed areas: the immediate drainages into Fish Lake, Sevier county, from the west; 500 yards on each side of the n canyons loop road; all the drainages of Bingham Canyon with the exception of Dry Fork above Spratiing's fence. Only qualified holders of a big game license may apply for a special bow permit. Permits may be obtained either by mail or in person at Department offices only, 1596 West North Temple, Salt Lake City. Applications must include the applicants full name and address, big game license number, and three dollars Parley-Immigratio- Archers were reminded by the Department that special archery permit holders are restricted from applying for or possessing anv other special deer permit. The carrying of firearms by bow permittees is illegal during the special archery season, under a new regulation of the Utah Board of Eig Game Control this year. The Department also reminded archery hunters that' the wear-.nof red clothing, the tagging law, and all other regulations covering the general deer season as shown in the 1955 deer proclamation must be observed during the 1954 season. The Utah mourning dove season opened Thursday morning, continues September 1, and through September 15 in several counties of the state.
