He has long been active in civic affairs, having served on the city council from 1941 to 1948. He was twice elected mayor of Montieello. During this period a volunteer Fire Department was organized and fire fighting equipment was purchased. The present city sewer system was laid, and curbs and gutters were installed on Main street. Mr. Walton is a life long resident of San Juan County, and a successful businessman. At present he is serving on the Selective Service Board. He is a charter member of the Monti-cell- o Lions Club, and past president of the Montieello Sportsmens Club. He has filled a mission for the L. D. S. Church in the North Central states.
