"We think Monticello has everything, Mr, Filla said. "It is located in the center of this great mining area with most of the big producing mines in San Juan County. It is surrounded with some of the richest farm land. It has beautiful scenery and fiiendly people. Mr. Filla predicts that within a year you wont know that Kingdom Mines is the same as the one of today. They flan to build bunk houses, a dining hall, showers and all to make one of the most modern mining camps. With production on the existing mine expanded and the opening of the new mines now planned the sight of truck loads of their ore through Monticello to the mills will be common. Mine foreman Elmo Wycherley dumps a load of ore from the mine into a pile for sorting. Each load of ore is sorted twice before shipment to the mill for refining. Thousands of tons of this kind of ore goes into the mill to produce one pound of pore metal. Record Photo |
