Show THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, THURSDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 13 5, 1925. t Charles H. Madsen, Democrat, Wins as Mayor Former Patrolman Denies Giving Gallon of Moon shine to Woman for Tip Tribon. TWIN FALLS, Idaho, Nov. 4 City officials and members of th city polio fore her today in probate court told what they knew of chargee that J. H. Blgley, former patrolman, whose resignation waa accepted Monday evening by theclty council, had given the proprietress of a rooming house a gallon of coniecated liquor, in paymnet for a tip resulting In the arrest of two Mexicans for violation of the liquor law. Desk Sergeant Reed told the court under the questioning of Prosecuting Taylor, who called th Attorney inquisition, that on the night of July 3, Blgley had arrested two Mexicans with two gallons of moonshine. The Mexicans and moonshine were taken to the station, and on the following morning, Reed said, Blgley went to his own locker, where he had placed the liquor, and took out one of the jugs with the statement that he had promised this to Mollie Corfelt, proprietress of a rooming house, in return for the tip leading to the arrest of the Mexicans. This was denied by Blgley, when he took the stand to answer questioning of the attorney. He declared that only one gallon of liquor was taken from the Mexicans, and that this was later used by the police in prosecuting the case against the two guilty at that time, and was fined $10 and her rooming house license re- voked. Alleged disappearance of eighteen gallons of liquor, following a raid In the north part of town also was in- quired into during the hearing. Chief of Police lalghton, in his testimony, declared that only twelve gallons of liquor wa. found in a garage, instead of thirty gallons, as was rumored. This also was brought out in the statement of the man arrested at the time of the raid. Blgley. sheriffs officials said, was In the office of Mrs Corfelt at the time a raid was made there Blgley claimed his presence there was a part of his rounds of Inspection on his heat The court adjourned, after many until Thursday were questioned. morning, when the questioning will be reeumed.
