Daniel C. .lackling, president of tho Herald-Republican Publishing company, has tendered his resignation to. the board of directors of the Hcrald-Rcpub-licau, and the resignation has been accepted. ac-cepted. Mr. .Tackling announces that his stock in the Herald-Republican is for sale. His holdings amount to between be-tween $76,000 and $80,000. The announcement of Mr. Jackling's retirement from tho presidency of the company probably will bo made editorially edi-torially by the Hcrald-Ecpublican this morning. When asked concerning tho report of his retirement from the presidency of tho JIcrald-Rcpublicah, Mr. Jackling said: "Yes. the rcporL is true. I tendered my resignation as president of tho Herald-Republican Publishing company on December 22. and it was accepted by tho beard of directors Tuesday." Questioned with reference to his reasons rea-sons for retiring, Mr. Juckliug said: "J have not been in sympathy with tho policy of the paper. Its personal abuse of people and corporations has not appealed to me as the proper thing, and J have been protesting against it for some time, but, owing to tho fact J,hat 1 was in the minority, my protests havo been useless."
