Show OAKES'S BODY WAS GIVEN PROMPT ATTENTION In the report Sunday of the fatal accident ac-cident which befell Edward Oakes, an agod employee, Saturday at the Highland Boy smelter, west of Murray, It was erroneously er-roneously stated that Oakec's body was held at the works from 10 o'clock In the morning, the time of the accident, until late In the afternoon. It develops that Oakes's body was Immediately removed from the smelter building following the accident to the office and later to a room used for club purposes by the employees of the s.melter. Undertaker Banks of Murray wan summoned sum-moned aa quickly as possible and the body was removed to the undertaking establishment within two hours af,ter the accident occurred. Oakes was struck on tho head with a traveling crane, and his death resulted In fflTeoTi minutes. No bruises were found on his .body, and it is bolieved that heart failure, caused bv fright, was primarily responsible for his death. So far nH the accident which Is reported re-ported to have been sustained by Ray Deering, in the machine shop of the smeltor, the company has no record of It Deering was reported to have boon struck In the eye with a hammer by August Au-gust Nelson, while cutting rivets. An investigation was made by tho company Sunday, but no knowledge of guch an accident could be gained. |
