Rube Evans, heaving or the visitors, visi-tors, outpitched Pete Standridge, and fast and clever fielding behind him kept the Angels ajvay from the plate. The Saints twice pulled the double steal, each time resulting in a score. Both pairs of thefts were made in the first inning. The visitors combined two hits in the first round with errors by Kenwort'hy, Terry and Groehling for four tallies. The steals were mixed with the hits and errors, and both were neatly executed. The Saints made another run in the second inning, mainly on. Sheely's single, which scored Rath from second, which station Morrie had reached on a walk and a steal. After the second inning Standridge was invincible and his mates braced in their fielding to such good effect that the visitors visi-tors never again came within hailing distance dis-tance of the plate. The Angels scored in the fourth on Ken worthy's walk, an out and Meusel's single. Hits by Groehling, Standridge and Terry gave the locals their second and last run in the fifth. With men on second sec-ond and third and one out, Evans fanned Kenworthy and caused Fournier's retirement retire-ment on a grounder. Evans had a slight wabbly spell in the eighth, when he walked Kenworthy and yielded a single to Fournier. Kenworthy was forced at third and the next two batsmen popped out. Manager Killefer sent in Doc Crandall to hit for Groehling in the ninth and Harl Maggert to bat for Standridge. One fiied out and the other grounded out. The outcome of the game puts the Saints two and a half games ahead (f the Angels for second place, and Portland's Port-land's second victory over the Seals cuts down San Francisco's lead over Salt Lake to two and a half games.
