Show YOUNG COUPLE MARRIED ON INSTALLMENT PLAN Notwithstanding that there is a mot-3cy mot-3cy assortment of marriage ceremonies under the Mormon teachings, . and a couple take chances on being sealed for life or for eternity or for both, the mar-riago mar-riago by a Mormon elder is considered moro binding than the ceremony of a Mexican high priest. At least this is tho opinion evidently entertained by F, W. Underwood of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Dora .A. Fletcher of San Diego, who wore united for the second time yesterday. Their story is an interesting one. Less than a year ago" they were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, at least they supposed they were, by a priest in Mexico. The certificate given to them was written in Mexican, a language unfamiliar to either of them They could not read the contract and did not know that it was merely a year pass, as it were, for a trip upon the matrimonial matri-monial sea. It was quite recently that thoy met a friend familiar with Mexican Mexi-can customs, in this respect, who informed in-formed them of the nature of their contract, which he said was merely a license to live together for one year. They learned that the certificate authorized au-thorized their living together as man and wife for a period of one year, and that if the trial venture proved satisfactory satis-factory to both parties at the end of that time, they could bo married for all time. Both were well content to continue the journey together and upon the advice ad-vice of an attorney decided to be remarried, remar-ried, and in a language they could understand. Accordingly, they secured a license at the office of the County' Clerk yesterday and were united in wedlock by a deputy of the office. Elder David A. Smith of the Church ojC Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is hoped for their sake that the officiating elder sealed them for time and eternity, nnd did not use tho formula for eternity only. |
