Show ...teh cm T.iephon. DRAMA CRISIS mi J Hansen, angina henrf MOSCOW The JP). glimpse of a bed bug is used as the turning point in an ultrafuturUt dr-- S ( ma recently produced here. The play bear the title. "The Bug," and in America the name might well be taken as a play upon words. The work is a satire upon the middle class, the people most condemned by the disciples ol Marx. L The hero is presented as typical ol this class, being hostile to any activity that does not promote his personal comfort or aggrandisement. In the first part his career ends when hs is frozen to death after a 1929 wedding orgy. The second part of the play presents him as having been thawed out by scientists of 1979 't and exhibited as a museum specimen in a glass cage. He goes frantic for lack of drink and tobacco and kindred fellowship, but is allowed only enough Indulgence in these to keep him alive. Just as his despair reaches the breaking point, he sights a bed bug. The rhapsodical greeting which he gives to, this reminder of a life gone for fifty years forms the focal point 01 me drama.
