Show iDflHO CONVICTS IE LARGE Three Escape From Penitentiary Peni-tentiary and So Far Have Eluded Pursuers. Special lo The Tribune. EOISE, Idaho, Oct. 9. All available men on tho force of Warden Cuddy at tho state penitentiary are engaged In a man-hunt today, for the convict trusties Jack Miller, Leonidas M. Dean and George Rmead made good their escape during Ihe early morning hours. They are fleeing toward tho Salmon Kiver country, having taken a northerly course through the hills. Apparently the three worked out a prearranged pre-arranged plan, as they all lett together. Dean and Miller removed enough of tlie old bricks to crawl through a tunnel in the cellhouse and reached the roof. They then made a rope out of their bed blankets blan-kets and scaled tho prison wall. Once outside, they w ere joined by Smead, who was outside in charge of the dairy herd. All three took "oiaukets, expecting to sleep out of doors during the day and travel at night. Dean is a somewhat celebrated prisoner, pris-oner, having become prominent in the southeastern part of the state, where ho executed a kidnaping and created a genuine gen-uine sensation in Bingham countv, having hav-ing held his prisoner for some davs before be-fore citizens could capture him. Miller was sentenced from Bannock county for burglary, and Smead from Canyon county on the same charge. |
