Show REPUBLICAN RALLY IS HELDfiT HIER Harry S. Joseph, George M. Cannon and E. O. Leather-wood Leather-wood Speak. Harry S. Joseph, speaker and entertainer enter-tainer extraordinary, also Republican nominee for the state senate, entertained an enthusiastic audience last night at a ! Republican rally at Hunter. Preparatory to attacking the campaign issues Mr. Jo-' Jo-' sepli gave one of his inimitable performances perfor-mances at the piano. With the musical programme disposed of. be attacked the Democratic administration of county affairs af-fairs during- the past two years and compared com-pared It with what he termed the safe and sane administration of the Republicans Repub-licans since 1S99. Mr. Joseph declared himself heartily in favor of state appropriations appro-priations to build a concrete highway be-, be-, tween Salt Lake and Garfield and between be-tween -Salt Lake and other near-by points. Mr. Joseph was the only pianist among the campaigners, but George M. Cannon and E. O. Leathcrwood contributed to the oratorical programme. They urged support sup-port for Republican candidates as a whole on the national, state and county tickets. Other Republican rallies wefe held last night at Unity half. South Jordan and the Thirty-first ward meeting house. Charles R. Mabey, Brigham H. Clegg and Alma Eldredge spoke at South Jordan; W. G. Burton, N. G. Morgan. David A. Smith and Mrs. Margaret Zane Cherdron at Unity hall; Senator Reed Smoot and Horace H. Smith at tlie Thirty-first ward meeting house. During the afternoon a meeting at Garfield was addressed by Mrs. "Raymond Robins and Mrs. Rheta Childe Dorr of the A omen's National Hughes Campaign train. Rallies will be held tonight at Union. ! Riverton, Pleasant Green and at 323 South I State street. The meeting at 3"" South I State street will be for colored members I of the party and will be held at 10:30 ; o'clock. Senator W. E. Borah of Idaho is scheduled sched-uled to speak at Ogden tonight and will come to Salt Lake tomorrow. He will be the guest of the county and legislative ; candidates tomorrow noon at the weekly ! luncheon at the Wilson grill and wiil ; speak at the Salt Lake theater tomorrow night under the auspices of tlie Utah Hughes alliance. |
