WEILENMANN Democrats gather in Salt Lake City Saturday to select a new state chairman and carry out other organizational business. The meeting, which gets under way at 9:30 a.m., in the Rainbow Randevu, is expected to draw almost 1,000 delegates from over the state. Two candidates are seeking the state chairman post being vacated vacat-ed by Milton L. Weilenmann. They are G. Hal Taylor, attorney and presently secretary of the party, and Richard C. Howe, attorney at-torney and member of the state Legislature. Mrs. Kathleen H. Miekle of Cache County is the only announced an-nounced candidate for the vice-chairman vice-chairman post. Temporary convention officers include Gordon Weggeland as chairman; Mrs. Merlene Alger, vice chairman; Mrs. Ella Mul-hall, Mul-hall, secretary; Mrs. Bertha Robinson, Rob-inson, treasurer; Dr. Wendell Anderson, parliamentarian; Raymond Ray-mond Jackson, Ferris Adams, Weston Thomander, Norman DR. GALE McGEE Hayward, George Baker, and Roscoe Kay, sergeant-at-arms. Convention registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Electric organ music mu-sic will begin at 9 a.m., and Mr. Weilenmann will call the convention con-vention to order at 9:30 a.m. Utah Air National Guard will post colors and Alvin Kedding-ton Kedding-ton will direct delegates in singing sing-ing "America." Invocation will be by C. Clarence Neslen. Mr. Taylor will read the convention con-vention call. Delegates will be welcomed by Salt Lake City Commissioner L. C. "Rennie" Romney. Mr. Weilenmann will introduce convention officers and Mr. Weggeland Weg-geland will announce convention conven-tion committees. After a musical selection Democratic National Committeeman Calvin W. Rawl-ings Rawl-ings will introduce Dr. Gale W. McGee, University of Wyoming history professor and candidate for the U. S. Senate nomination (Continued on Page 8) Demo State Convention Open in S. Dr. McGee is professor of American history and chairman of the Institute of World Affairs at the University of Wyoming. He is seeking the Democratic nomination for U. S. Senator from Wyoming. He is a native of Arkansas and was educated at Nebraska State Teachers College. He served a year as administrative assistant to Senator O'Mahoney. He is considered a fine prospect pros-pect for the Democratic nomination nomina-tion for U. S. Senator from Wyoming. (Continued from Page 1) in that state, who will deliver the keynote address.
