TisniSGios, Oct. 26. A cold wind stripped most of the leaves from the trees in, the White house ground last night, and this morning the aspect of nature is bara and dreary. There will be no official recognition recog-nition of Mrs. Harrison' death beyond the flags at half staff on the government buildings. The public business will go on as usual. The body has been laid -out in the room in which death, occurred, but this afternoon it will bo placed in the casket and taken to the east room, where it will remain till after the funeral services. The corpse shows the effects of the wasting illness, but the expression of tha face is placid and kindly as in life, with, no traces of suffering. The president, though deeply grief-stricken, is mora composed com-posed today than yesterday and reasonably calm. Arrangements Complata. Indianapolis, Oct. 20. Arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Harrison are practically complete. The burial lot in the cemetery was selected this morning. It is beautifully located near the soldiers' graves. The honorary pall-bearers will bo made tip of distinguished citizens of Indiana, including General Lew Wallace, Hon. W. P. Fish back. Judge William Woods and Hon. E. B. Martindale. The active pall-bearers ill bo ten regular army officers. Tho Vice-President and Cabinet. Washington, Oct. 26. At a meeting of the cabinet this morning it was decided that all the members except Secretary Foster should go to Indianapolis to attend funeral of Mrs. Harrison. Vice-President Morton will bo one of the pall-bearers at the services here tomorrow. Secretary Rusk arrived this morning. Secretary Elkina will reach hers during the day. Tokens of Regard. fWASHiNGTON, Oct. 26. Among the senders send-ers of telegrams of condolence are Senator and Mrs. Stanford of California, General Thomas H. Ruger of San Francisco, Senator Mitchell of Oregon. A magnificent floral wreath was received from Whitelaw Keid. |
