Miller Atwood, bishop of the Thirteenth Thir-teenth ward, died . t his residence at ltr East Second S uiih street at MM o'clock this afternoon iu the 74th vear of life. Miller Atwood was strong In the faith of the Latter-day Saints, and passed through the exciting scenes at Nauvoo. He was expelled with the other followers follow-ers of Joseph Smith in 1840, and in 1847 started on the pilgrimage to Salt Lake. He had an encounter with the hostile Indians and while riding a horse and leading another the savages attacked him, and while cutting the animals with their arrows he was pitched over into the sage brush and though his face was badly lascerated he escaped with his life. He has been a prominent counsellor in the affairs of his church and a devout and faithful follower of that fail h. Tho funeral services wiil be hold at 10 o'clock Sunday morning. |
