Fuel Well A third drill stem test of the Mixing Snow Tires Weber formation at the Brady Unit No. 1 wildcat well in south western Wyoming has again produced crude oil and natural gas without encountering formation water, it was reported Sunday by B. Z. Kastler, president of Mountain Fuel Supply. The newest test was conducted Saturday at a depth interval between 13,750 and 13,851 feet, and during a hour hour and 20 minute period resulted in a flow of 53.5 degree gravity oil (at 60 degrees) at a rate of 576 barrels per day and natural gas at a rate of 1,850,000 cubic feet through a quarter inch choke with a sur- face flowing pressure of 2400 pounds per square inch, he said. The bottom hole shut-i- n pressure was 5914 psi and at the end of the test the bottom hole was flowing 5441 psi. Subsequent analysis showed the gas had a heating value of 833 Btu with about 29 per cent carbon dioxide and 1.5 percent hydrogen sulfide. He pointed out that the Weber formation, in three consecutive tests, has now been penetrated 261 feet, all of which has been productive of both oil and gas, and as yet no formation water has been encountered. Ultimate objective of the well remains the Madison formation at a depth of 15,500 feet, and the operator of the well, Champ-li- n Petroleum Co., a subsidiary of Union Pacific, plans to continue drilling to that objective. Whatever the situation, the Tire Industry Safety Council issues an important reminder: if you have radial tires on the front axle, be sure you have radial tires on the rear. This means radial snow tires, if you are going to put on snow tires at all, it was explained. Regular radials give considerable traction, but they do not meet the legal requirement for snow tires in many jurisdictions rules when snow emergency are in effect. In such areas, motorists who dont have snow tires and block traffic, are given tickets. Winter weather calls for great preparation on the part of all motorists. Its mandatory that a cars tires receive as much attention as the other segments of the car. Why is it unsafe to have radials on the front and another type tire on the rear? In a public advisory announcement, the U.S. Department of Transportation has explained it this way: In general, the hazard of mixing tire types relates to the erratic or dangerous vehicle performance which may result. Under various driving conditions requiring dependable vehicle control, especially in cornering, mixed tire performance has been compared to the effect of wearing a rubber solder shoe on one foot, a new leather sole on the other, or a pair of ice skates of which only one is newly-sharpene- d. Deadline for submitting nominations is Jan. 20, 1973. A radial tire is built in such that when the front wheels are turned the tires immediately assume the new direction. If the snow tires on the rear are of a different type, the risk of slipping and causing a skid is more likely. Mixing does not refer to the use of different brands, or different cord materials, nor to the number of sidewall plies (such as two, four or six ply) on the same vehicle. a way Doctor in the Kitchen by Laurence M. The viperfish lives so deep in the ocean its almost never seen by man. Occasionally one is seen inside the belly of another deep water fish that has been caught. The viperfish grows to be about 10 in. long, has a narrow body and has teeth as sharp as needles. Last week we talked about especially the weight control fact that its not so hard to know how to do it as it is to do it. And especially around Holiday time, ones desire to eat less is sorely taxed. I remember one good gimmick for reducers, though. It works at cocktail parties. Say your hostess has the place loaded down with all kinds of hors doeuvres, all sorts of goodies. Not only are the drinks loaded with calories. So is the food. Well, instead of sitting there, or strictly standing in talkboth of which make ing groups you vulnerable to oilers of another drink, and how about sampling these lovely snacks? you go on offense. reo 9 Listen and Compare Thousands Have And Now Enjoy Solid Gold Hits K MOOT KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY MSTIUCO AND B0TTIE0 BY THE JAMES B. And you might even meet someone new and interesting. Research is still trying to find out specific things about weight control. Wc dont know much about what controls appetite in humans. Mechanisms that control appetite have been identified and located in laboratory animals. And we assume people have similar abilities. But were not sure how they work and psychological fac tors also probably are involved. A lot more research will have to be done before well know whether one individual utilizes his food more efficiently than another. Some studies with rats have suggested that nibbling eating less but more often - will produce more body protein and less body fat than eating the same number of calories at one meal. But studies with other animals and humans have so far failed to show this. And finally, there isnt any research to prove that the proportion of protein, fat, or carbohydrate makes any weight control difference that isnt caused already by the number of calories you consume. Sounds pretty discouraging, doesnt it? Well, it is, for our greatest problem with weight control is the fact that we experience so much failure. Weight Control But theres lots of research going on. Incidentally, theres some good evidence that obesity can be trigthat mothers gered in infancy who overfeed their youngsters cause them to have larger fat cells that are harder to cells keep in line.
