Representatives of the local smelters all report the product of bullHm at least a:ij, per cent greatcr.than at a cor-responding period last year. When to this is added the large cargoes that are ping out to Colorado furnaces an idea is derived of the progress being made by Ltah's mining industry. Note and Personal. Mr. Morey, one of tho oldest locators in the Wasatch district, is down from Park City. Manager Chambers, of the Ontario aud Daley, is at Park City looking into the bonanzas. All appearances indicate a large out-pouring of mining men on the occasion of the excursim to Tintic tomorrow. The jiggers are taking advantage of the rise in silver, and are producing nearly twenty tons a week for the market. Tho Crescent and Union concentra-tors are both running regularly while thfi Mcintosh sampler presents a spec- - tacle of uuusual activity. The Hanauer smelter which has been undergoing extensive repairs now has three furnaces in blast, the third having been blown in yesterday. Messrs. Stebbins & Van Buskirk will inaugurate work on their properties at EurAa in a few days and put it through on a most energetic scale. Seventy stamps, divided between the Outario and Marsac mills are now pounding silver, gold, copper and lead from the product of Park. Park City now numbers eight regular producers. The day is not distant when the catalogue will contain Wty. Capital will accomplish it. The Holden syndicate, which is the "Russell process" at Aspen have Inother lot of fifty tons from that locality on the road, which will be put throug'h the Marsac mill. Ollie Dillon will devote the next six months as the representative of the ereat Park-Rege- mine at Kansas City, to which place the product of that bonanza is being shipped. Over $00 000 a month are distributed among the "horny handed knights" by the mines of Park City. It is estimated that there are at least 1.000 miners on the various payrolls, from which five thousand souls, directly and indirectly, are deriving their support. There is no feature in the Msrsac mill through which the product of the ASATCffSWEALTH. The mine put forth an extensive development a year ago last June and sunk to a depth of 600 feet at which level they were forced out by a large volume of water. To elude the expensive annoyances from that source a tunnel was started through which it was expected the shaft would be drained. At a distance of over a mi e the ore bodies already discovered in the shaft workings were intercepted l1.""61 si,1L'e which tin'e a large body oro and galena was ex- - ,Aa system of draining tho up- per however, the tunnel was a lailure arid a hole is now being put from the shaft to connect it with the tunnel. When this shall have been accomplished the present production of the mine will be largely increased. In the shaft from winch a large volume of water 1600 gallons a minute is now being hoisted a first class silver and lead ore has been divulged in four levels. Through the tunnel it was demonstrated that the ore, which originally appeared in the shaft as a high grade carbonate had changed to a refractory sulphide which is now sent to Salt Lake in the form of a con-centrate. In the meantime the shaft has proceeded to a depth of 1000 feet, and will tap the tunnel in a short time and the upper workings relieved of their water. The Anchor is a stock company divided into 1.50,000 shares of the par value of $10 each. The active officers in charge are E. P. Ferrv. and manager; William M. Curtis, superintendent; and W. V. Rice, secretary. At present the Anchor is working a force of forty men, the shaft development beine under contract. THE NORTHLAND. This producer is now prosecuting its operations with a roster of twenty-on- e miners, a new steam hoistcr has been erected, and the output shows an aver-age of eight tons daily, three of which are first class and five of a second, the latter being reduced to concentrates at the Crescent mill before reaching the market. Ore extraction at this prop-erty is being retarded at present by liti-gation, although a large body of valu-able ore has been blocked out and awaits the close of legal hostilities. From territory that is not embraced in the suit the shipments last week rose to 108,570 pounds, the .ore consisting of a lead carbonate. THE WOODSIDE. This mine for eleven months was op-erated under tribute by Willman Bros, and John M. Drake, who having yet a month to the credit of their lease, re-tired in favor of E. P. Ferry. During the period of the lease fabulous earn-ings were realized from its rich cham-bers, the parties all being suddenly car-ried forward to a position of wealth and independence. At present ship-ments are confined to small lots of high grade while explorations are extending in all directions from the main work-ings, Tho result of Mr. Ferry's labors is lieing watched with irrepressible in-terest by tho mining men of this pros-perous "locality, not one of whom will not rejoice when the reward of pluck and perseverance is finally realized by him. ixious to secure an . opening, to patriarchal spirits through hose enterprise the camp has achieved ; present magnitude, and whose labors ive brought forth some of the mighty-- t bonanzas of modern timeSj are still osecnting their labors on a most scale and if the sequal to illns-iou- s and untiring Leadville has not ipeared in full growth and splendid iturity it at least lies there in embryo, nil of the advantages of Park City er rival camps wherein the low grade 'dominates there can be no possible lostion. The West End. The owners of this property that is situated in the Uinlah district about four miles from Park City, have driven a thousand feet into the mountains and have divulged a tremendous body of low grade ore, the metallic contents of which consist of about 15 ounces silver and 20 per cent lead. From the tunnel are diverging drifts, the total workings representing an expenditure of some $10,000 or more. An eco-nomical outlet will eventually admit this ore to the markets as ore of a very desirable smelting quality. Mr. E. C. Williamson is directing tho develop-ments of the vein that traverses the territory between the Wasatch and Cot-tonwood, and which will, with facilities for the profitable handling of its ores, become one of the most productive in the territory. The Ilymllaya. Disclosures in this mine are rapidly bringing Scott hill, some three miles east of Park City into considerable prom-inc-although work is temporarily suspended pending proceedings on an application for patent. A tunnel pene-trates the claim to a distance of 500 feet, and from this has been obtained assays as high as $1000 gold, together with copper and silver. The claim is under the management of Mr. F. C. Thomp-son, a gentleman of long and varied ex-perience in the art of mining. Union Pacific System. Mountain Division.
