Show Quarter Horse Show Readied at Ogden Advance entries point to the largest Golden Spike Quarter Horse Show in history here Nov. 17-19, according to officials of the Intermountain Quarter Horse Assn., sponsor of the show. Entries from Utah, Idaho. Montana and Nevada are already al-ready being processed. It is anticipated anti-cipated that around 400 horses will compete in performance and halter classes. The 1960 show at the Ogden Coliseum was fifth largest in the nation in number of halter entries en-tries but fell short of desired numbers in the performance classes. Show officials this year are building the show around classes such as cow cutting, reining, rein-ing, roping and a complete junior jun-ior show. More crowd-pleasing events are scheduled this year and will include three events foreign to the show arena at Ogden: cow corraling, barrel racing and pole bending. The third annual Quarter Horse sale, under the direction of Bill Smale Sale Management will be held on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. Also included in the roster of events will be the annual meeting meet-ing of IQHA at which time officers of-ficers will be elected and association associ-ation business discussed. Entries for the show close Nov. 8 to halter classes, but post entries en-tries in the performance events will be accepted due to the drive to increase the number of exhibitors ex-hibitors in the working events. Please direct all inquiries for the show and sale to Intermountain Intermoun-tain Quarter Horse Assn., 2964 Morgan Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. |
