Show ATTEMPTED MURDER Some Friend Gives Cider Containing Paris Green to Ladies who Demand an Investigation. A NAKEOW ESCAPE PEOM DEATH. The Matter Brought to the Attention of County Attorney Murphy, Prosecutor Stephens and Oommisioner Norrell. County Attorney Murphy, Assistant United States Attorney Stephens and Commissioner Norrell had brought to their notice this afternoon a dastardly attempt on the part of some one to murder two vomen by means of a deadly poison. It seems that Mrs. Zina Anderson and Miss Jensen keep a boarding house at Murray, and a few days ago one of the boarders, a man named Holliday, took a bottle which had just been washed, and went out to get some cider. He returned with the beverage bev-erage and invited the ladies to drink some of the stuff which they did, and a short time after both were TAKEN VIOLENTLY ILL and it was with difficulty that their lives were saved. Three of their frinds, who had also taken some of the cider, were taken sick, and their condition is still serious. In trying to ascertain the cause, they happened to think of the eider, and at once sent the bottle bot-tle to Dr. Barrodough who made an analysis analy-sis of the cider and returned it with the startling statement that it CONTAINED I'ARIS GREEN. Believing that Holliday was responsible respon-sible for it, the ladies brought him to turn this afternoon, and stated the facts to the officials named. Whether there is sufficient evidence for them to proceed against anyone remains to be seen, but if there is not an investigation will doubtless follow. The ladies are greatly wrought up over the affair and insist the perpetrator of the outrage be brought to justice. |
