Show Utah Pioneer Day Parade Holds July 24th Celebration Spotlight America's biggest mid-summer parade the July 24 Pioneer Day parade here again will be the featured event of the Days of '47 celebration in Utah. Communities throughout Utah are holding local celebrations with rodeos and parades commemorating com-memorating the arrival in Salt Lake City of Brigham Young and the pioneers on July 24. 1847. The Salt Lake parade will begin be-gin Monday at 9 a.m. at Brigham Young Monument on Main St. Included in the two-hour long parade will be 05 floats, eight posse groups, 23 bands, seven marching units and two jeep possees. Also in the parade will be the Days of '47 queen, Joan Carrigan of Midvale. She will reign over the events which include Salt Lake's 29th annual sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in Lindsey gardens, the Days of '47 Rodeo starring Rex Allen at the State Fairgrounds and the Pioner Pageant in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on July j 24 and 25. This year's tabernacle pageant "Valiantly Onward" will honor President J. Reuben Clark Jr. of the first Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Salt Lakers also will see Cinerama Cine-rama for the first time at the Villa Theatre starting July 21. In Ogden, Pioneer Days, Inc., will sponsor "All Faces West" July 21-23. The show will star Igor Gorin as Brigham Young. |
