Show t j Preventing Accident NOTHING encourages automobile traffic like, the first spring-like days. Sunshine, good roads and awakening nature call to the man and family with a car. That the call is heeded Is evident from the Increase in traffic on both city streets and iountry highways. With increasing traffic, it behooves motorists and others to give renewed attention to the accident hazard. ' Safe and sane driving on the part of motorists, mo-torists, together -with a deep consideration of the traffic probffcm on the part of. pedestrians, offers the best security against fatal and untimely un-timely accidents. For the most part, our automobile au-tomobile owners are' deeply considerate of their own welfare and do not resort to unreasonable unrea-sonable risks. Their only protection acainst the reckless driver, however, to be found in the laws which fix penalties and punishments for those who resort to reckless and forbidden practises wtrifedriving high powei eitairtomobties. A thorough enforcement of the traffic laws and ordinances is necessary to the complete suppression sup-pression of this minority which is responsible for most of the automobile accidents. Enforcement En-forcement of laws against speeding, drunken drivers and the like should not wait upon the first fatal accident to be attributed to these causes. The best time to prevent an accident is before it happens. |
