Show DEATH COMES TO A PIONEER John Francis Hardie, Past Master of Masons, and Who Came Here in 1856, Is Summoned. John Francis Hardie, past grand master of the Masonic fraternity in I'tah, died at 5t. Mark's hospital yesterday yes-terday afternoon after an illness of four davs. Mr. Hardie was born in London England, Eng-land, November 5, 1840. At the age of 16 years he emigrated to America with his parents and came to I'tah with the famous handcart brigade which arrived ar-rived in this city in 1856. Bince that time he has made his home here. Mr. liardie became a Mason in 1978 , and advanced from the ranks to the fosition of grand master of the grand odge of Utah, v He is survived by a widow, a son and two daughters. Mrs. Hardie is now in Sacramento, Cal., and has been notified of the death, the children are Julian Hardie of Philadelphia, Mrs. R. E. Robbins of California, and Frances Fran-ces Hardie of this citv. Mr. Le Grand Young. Mrs. Agnes Lynch and Mrs. Phylis Ferguson of this city are sisters and Alexander Hardie, who lives in Australia, is a brother. The arrangements for the funeral will not be made until Mrs. Hardie 's arrival. |
