Show TITLE DIES WITH HIM Duke of Cambridge, Cousin of Victoria, Passes Away at Ripe Age. LONDON, March 17. The Duke of Cambridge died at 1:S5 o'clock this morning. He was a cousin of the late Queen Victoria, and was born March 26, 1819. The Duke died peacefully at Gloucester Glouces-ter house, his Georgian residence, on Park lane. He had been confined to bis house for some weeks. King Edward and Queen Alexandra had been constant visitors to the sick room, while the Duke's sons were almost al-most incessantly at his bedside. He was formerly Commander-in-Chief of the army. The title of Duke of Cambridge died with the late Duke, his sons being born of a morganatic marriage. His death also places at the disposal of the King a field marshal's baton, as well as an Order of the Garter. Gar-ter. . It Is expected that the remains of the Duke will be buried at Kew. An Imposing Impos-ing military display will be made at the funeral. |
