E Stromness 76 former mechanic mechanic mechanic me me- for the Republican Herald-Republican The Herald and The Telegram died early Monday donday at the s' s family amily residence 1003 Fite Fifteenth nth East j street following a 4 stroke He had hadeen been een in g good 0 0 d health until first stricken December December Decem Decem- ber 12 Mr Stromness j 1 was born August 18 18 1857 in Oslo Norway a son of Evan and Patrea Antoinette Christensen Chrisensen Christensen Chris- Chris ensen Stromness f After fin finishing ish i nc school chool he attended I I a navigation academy acad acad- emy cray and in 1875 went to sea win win- Mr r. Stromness ning his masters master's license on sailing vessels While on leave in 1882 in his home lome town he joined the L L. D. D S. S church and worked his way across the Atlantic to New Orleans and up the Mississippi river He came to Utah Utahn in n 1883 He was married August 13 1885 lin in n the Logan temple to Antoinette They lived in Salt Lake and Murray until 1901 1901 when the fam- fam amily am- am ly ily moved to Park City where he was yas employed for lor many years as a mine carpenter He fulfilled an L. L D. D S. S mission to Norway from September 1910 to November 1912 The family moved to Salt Lake in 1913 residing at Fifteenth East street since He was employed nearly five years as a mechanic on the three newspapers ret retiring t ng in 1922 Surviving besides besids his widow are a ason ason ason son and four daughters Norman P. P and Ruth Stromness Mrs Agnes S. S Cornell Mrs Rachel Shepherd and Mrs Eva Berntsen all of Salt Lake five brothers and sisters Edward Edwatd Peter and Emma Stromness Salt Sail Lake Mrs Thora Paulsen Ogden anc and Mrs Hannah Park City anc and 11 grandchildren |
