"I miss visiting the agencies and meeting people," Jeanne Herstead said of her administrative position as Chief Project Coordinator for the Model Cities Agency. Mrs. Herstead has been with the agency since its inception, starting as a project analyist. In her present role she is responsible for the project section. Four project coordinators and two resident interns work in her section and totally are reponsible for 53 projects presently funded by Model Cities. project starts as an idea from a task force. A project A description is written and approved by that task force. Final approval on any changes must come from the task force involved and the Joint Board of Commissioners requires a sign-ofby the task force chairman and f secretary before they give approval. When asked about the progress of the Model Cities program, Mrs. Herstead said she has seen growth and improvement and feels that after enduring eight directors in three years, having a director for 1 full year has brought stability to the program. Dick Gohman, Elaine Miles, Mike Graham and George Nackos information and to solve any are the project coordinators who along with tiie two resident interns, Jan Pope and Merlyn Wright, work with operating agencies on ways to improve their problems which may exist. ''I'm happy that had the experience of seeing projects grow from ideas, follow a project all the way through the process," Mrs. Herstead said. "It all starts with the residents and what they projects, settle budget problems and advise on other occurrances. Monthly visits are made to each agency for day-to-da- y up-date- d I want, we just help bring together in a it workable program." |
