The Grand Opening will take place on Friday, December 15, between the hours of 9:00 a.m.and 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Elaine Sharp, Executive Director of the Utah Residential Services Association for the Retarded, stated that a two year study was made by her association to determine the need and feasibility of opening up a thrift store in the Salt Lake area with the goal of serving and meeting the needs of low income people as well as providing employment for retarded children. Mrs. Sharp states that the store will feature such items as clothing, appliances, furniture, toys, dishes, books, shoes and other miscellaneous items all to be sold at low prices. The store will be managed by Robert J. Cowles, who has had two years experience working in a similar store in Richmond, California.
