Show Task Forces at Work Government Task Force Worked Many Months To Insure The Continuation Of Citizen Meetings Such As This And To Provide For Resident Input In The Model Cities Program. (Manpower Task Force Pictured Above.) by Kirk Terry For the past nine weeks the Model Neighborhood News has been publishing studies of the Model Cities task forces, programs and activities. This study of the Government Task Force will conclude these articles. It has been the hope of the paper that these studies have been informational and interesting in th that the task force concept is the back bone of the Salt Lake Model Cities Agency. Th task force is the beginning place from which interested residents voice their opinions concsrning the conditions, favorable unfavorable, that exist in or the model neighborhood. Task forces are also comprised of agency and institution representatives that add their expertise to the planning and development of task force proposals. The Government Task Force is made up of the same interested Participation Component of the Salt Lake Model Cities Comprehensive Demonstration Plan (CDP). The CDP is a publication of the entire process, project proposals and action concepts for each action year of Model Cities; that is, the current CDP was written this year as the comprehensive guideline for Salt Lake Model Cities activities next year. The current CDP represents $3.8 million in allocated Model Cities funds to be spent next year on task force projects. When a CDP is in final form it is sent to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for approval and the subsequent funding of the proposals. In the last few issues of the Model Neighborhood News, we have outlined the Citizen Participation Component as organizational representatives. designed by the Government task force.
