Show Mental Health Services Offered to Residents they think of mental health services at all.) Frankly, even the word mental health services scares a number of people. Perhaps the reason is that most people do not understand what mental health services are and what they can do. Some of the services of the Westside Mental Health Unit are preventative. One such service is a child-guidenc- e class at a community school. Westside mental health services are fun; such as, helping a couple who have marital problems to laugh and enjoy themselves more. Much of the mental health services are practical; such as, negotiating with people in the neighborhood to solve a fued between families, or referring an unemployed father to a suitable training program. The Unit provides simple and everyday services; such as, providing the means for a young divorcee to get cut of the house away from her children thereby improving her outlook on life. At times mental health couseling is very difficult; such as, helping a young drug addict to find satisfaction with "the straight life." Or mental health services are challenging; such as, assisting so e who might otherwise go to jail or to a psychiatric ward. It is anticipated that the mental health services on the Westside will and continue to be down-to-earteffective with everyday problems. The staff is flexible and if h someone doesn't have transportation a staff member can go to their home. In the office, services and outreach through various community agencies are the way delivery of mental health services will be carried out on the Westside. In general, agencies, community leaders and people have been very cooperative and helpful in establishing the Westside Unit. "We hope to be able to be worthy of the trust and confidence that the community has given us," Mottonen states. It is hoped that you will use the Westside Mental Health Unit if the need arises in your life. The address is 870 West Fourth services of the South. Phone 328-036- 5.
