She was perched on the arm of my sofa, her back straight and stiff, her face pale, the auburn highlights glistening in her dark hair like little sparks of fire. Her usually velvet brown eyes were jet black as she stared glassily at the wall. "What's the matter?" came from my mouth before could stop myself. The look on her face broke into all I I er kinds of uneven lines. Her shoulders shook. Her hands trembled. Tears poured, words flooded, drowning my peace of mind for an entire weekend. It seems David had used, homemade camping trailer without consulting her. She hated the trailer and she also resented the unauthorized inroad into their budget. I counseled her, trying to be wise and impartial, some task, when one's own child is hurting. I agreed that he hadn't been too tactful or considerate of their mutual budget, but she had to realize he is a young man used to doing what he wants to do, and men are like that, and she's not too bad off if he doesn't chase women, drink or ignore her - - and if this is all the problems she ever had in life, she'll be very lucky, etc. etc. My rhetoric was not affecting the intensity of her emotions. Terrible! One comfort was that both mothers-in-lagot equal time and treatment. David's mother got into it when she called and tried to talk Elise into letting David back into their apartment, I w since he was sleeping in the pickup and she couldn't stand to see her boy not have a good night's rest. She was soundly told off, as only Elise can do it. Once Elise cools off, she is a model of generosity and clear thinking. The transformation is always amazing to me. In a few days, she and David worked out their war games to the satisfaction of both. I could sense a new maturity in each of them, especially when they dropped in for a visit and we all sat down to supper and proceeded to laugh and laugh at ourselves. David announced that he was going to "sacrifice" and sell the trailer and instead, he was planning to buy a sleeper shell for the back of their pickup. Elise, knowing he had two old cars and the camping trailer to sell at this point, looked at me and laughed, "Mom, I give up. She locked him out of the apartment for a time. She didn' t come running to me again. In fact, she didn't speak to me for two days. "The following types of patients under 18 years of age who request services in the family planning clinics receive services. 1.- ) Married or previously married patients, 2.- ) Patients who have never been pregnant and who have parental consent. 3.- ) Patients who have had a previous pregnancy or verified abortion. 4.- ) Padents who are referred directly by social workers, psychologists, or psychiatrists from juvenile court and private practice. 5.- ) Patients who suspect they are pregnant are given a pregnancy test, examination and counseling. 6.- ) Premarital examination counseling and contraceptives. The rational for seeing the above groups of patients is that the young woman in her teen years is at high risk should pregnancy occur. This applies from a physical, emotional, and social standpoint. Some young patients frequently find it impossible to approach their parents with their concerns and problems and so reach out to community agencies for help." A chart is used to determine the fee a patient must pay and ranges from nothing for an individual earning $2,000 per year or a family of 10 earning $7,700 per year to a fee of 75 of the scheduled rate for an individual earning $3,251 to $3,900 per year or a family of ten earning $9,451 to $10,300 per year.
