Purpose cf the meeting was to bring task force members and residents together in a "rap session" to discuss problems and attempt to define solutions. The meeting room was packed with concerned residents. Alberta Henry, Education Task Force Chairman and Leo Adams, Housing Task Force Chairman, served as leaders for the session. Letters which had been sent to HUD, local, state and national government officials were read. Mrs. Henry advised the group that the Education Task Force had written the letters because of a feeling of futility among members after spending many months planning new projects and then being told there was no money available to fund them. Task Force members were also concerned about the part residents are to play in the planning process for Model Cities. Several other Task Force Multi-purpos- e members voiced their agreement with these problems and concern about time being spent in meetings for no apparent reason. "We're not here as Chairmen to tell you what to do. The residents should be free to express themselves," Mrs. Henry said in encouraging anyone with problems to voice their feelings. Lack of adequate of transportation, a housing and lack a low-incom- e feeling that government isn't listening to the needs of residents were some of the concerns mentioned.
