Show AT THE OVERLAND W A scott representing the mining and scientific press of san francisco after an inspection of the overland mine and mill in camp floyd district writes his paper concerning the property as follows on the sunshine side of the mercur district the overland is the center of activity the overland cyanide plant is treating 1 tons per day the ore from this mine mine is favorable to this method of treatment there being practically no tale talc or clay to hinder leaching and percolation As an evidence of the thoroughness of the saving effected I 1 am informed that the tailings have been found to contain only from 30 to 40 cents per ton in may the overland mined and milled 2000 tons of ore at a cost of per ton for mining ing and 81 cents per p er ton for milling for the month of august tons were handled at a cost of per ton for mining and cents per ton for milling a total cost of mining and milling of 1571 per ton superintendent G A duncan and metallurgist A E smith have made special efforts to reduce the cost per ton as the tonnage handled increases and the results are of general interest superintendent in duncan dx expressed pressed the belief that it would be mutually helpful if mining companies generally y would accord publications like the f mining and scientific press more ready access to such figures as are here given the sunshine mine is under bond and lease to gill S peyton and associates of the overland who are doing development work S H martin AT E and C E is now no engaged in the making of preliminary surveys for an electric railway line which is to connect some of the big producing mines of bingham with the terminus of the B R G W road in bingham canyon and it is learned that there is a possibility that the line will be extended on to this city mr martin lartin A will be engaged in this work for some time and as he is is skilled in his profession will do a piece of engineering which will not only be creditable to himself but to his employers as well |
