Show THE SALT PALACE it is a sure thing now that the proposed salt palace is a go and it will not toe be long before work in its construction will begin in earnest this promises to be one of the most attractive buildings ever erected and will be unique in many ways leadville has had its ice palace and iowa and illinois their corn palaces but neither of these in appearance and in brilliancy will begin to compare with the palace of salt which the salt palace association of utah proposes to erect in this city this summer in fact it will be the lodestone which will draw crowds to zion this season and it will doubtless be the center piece of a num her ber of attractions which will be features of a season of festivities for the people of this intermountain region according to plans of every section of the state it is also proposed to make the mineral display larger more comprehensive and more far reaching in its effects than were the splendid exhibits of utah ores and m minerals at the worlds fair the midwinter Alid winter fair the omaha exposition or the tennessee fair and in order to consummate con this design the committee urges the hearty and energetic operation cooperation co of every mining man in the state and of every person interested in any 0 of the numerous mining districts of the commonwealth by concerted action a splendid exhibit can be made and not only of the precious metals but also of a variety of other minerals to the list of which can be added samples of coal bu building 1 aldin stone sulphur salt asphaltum gilsonite and numerous other fobber commodities this is a fine opportunity for the mining men of utah to show what kind of stuff they chev are made of to show their patriotism enterprise and zeal in the building up of the interests of utah and salt lake n DESIGN FOR THE SALT PALACE already formulated by the leading citizens lake as it is proposed to establish and maintain in this city iu in connection with the palace an intermountain exposition wherein it is proposed to malce make a display of the varied products of this western country the exposition and other buildings to occupy about ten acres of ground the main edifice to be the salt palace which with its crystal walls and columns will be resplendent in its reflections of the bright sunlight and which will show all the prismatic colors of the rainbow it is the intention of the officers of the association to pay the attention to mining that this industry so justly deserves and the displays of ores and minerals in the salt palace will be one of the chief features of the exhibition in fact it is the intention to make a collection of ores from every min mining in camp and district in utah and to classify every exhibit so that each and emery every display will be a complete exposition of the varied |
